UEFA Cup First qualifying round, second leg: FC Vaduz being a team the public would perceive as one they should beat comfortably is an added pressure that Longford Town fully accept, agrees their right back Alan Murphy.

"I don't think defeat bears thinking about," said Murphy. "But people must realise just how good a side Vaduz are. They can't simply think, 'oh, they're from Liechtenstein so you must beat them'.

"Technically, they are a very good side, indeed probably better than us in that department. But, having the added pressure of expectation on us doesn't make any difference."

Confidence in the Longford camp has been revitalised over the last week with two cup wins at Finn Harps - to advance to the League Cup final - and at Leeds of Cork in the FAI Cup.

Importantly, goals, five in total, have been scored by a side that has managed just 11 in its 20 league games so far this season.

"The way the team is playing at the moment augurs well," added Murphy. "We've started to score goals which was an area we had to put right and we have.

"We need to score tonight anyway, so we have to go into the game in a very positive way and have the right attitude."

Manager Alan Mathews has adopted a guarded approach. "We've got to be patient and have a cautious approach to the game initially," said Mathews. "We will be a little more adventurous when attacking, but we must keep our balance right and maintain a good shape."

Midfielder Philip Keogh is almost certainly out having failed to recover from the Achilles strain. The in-form Dessie Baker, who has scored in the last two games, is likely to start up front.

Manuel Rivera, unavailable for the first game, is set to start for Vaduz while Michele Polverino, who scored the only goal at the Rheinpark Stadion after coming on, is also vying to start.
