April may have too many gears for Adam's Return

GOWRAN PREVIEW:DERMOT WELD'S April came up just short of breaking her duck at Naas on her last start but can make no mistake in the sevenfurlong maiden at Gowran this evening. The daughter of the former smart sprinter Agnetha was beaten a short head by Vaticano at Naas last month after looking all over a winner inside the final furlong.

Tonight’s opposition include Adam’s Return who ran a blinder on his debut behind Love Bird on heavy ground at the Curragh but this looks a good opportunity for April.

Her two-year-old half-sister Anaverna (by Galileo) is an interesting newcomer in the juvenile maiden over seven furlongs where Aidan O’Brien runs two.

Seamus Heffernan is on board the Rock Of Gibraltar colt Mark Twain and this is a race that O’Brien has used in the past to introduce some very useful types.

The Weld-trained Rare Ransom had some very impressive form as a two-year-old and gets a lot of weight from Celtic Dane in the conditions race.

However, Kevin Prendergast claims 10lb off last year’s Galway Mile winner who has twice run well in black type races this season and will like better ground.
