Abbeyleix had an exciting 4-3 win over Cill Dara in the South Leinster Trophy. Playing four matches away at the Kildare venue, Abbeyleix won the one vital away point with matchplay stalwart John Grace again gaining the necessary win. The other matches were close, with Cill Dara coming out on top in all three, leaving Abbeyleix to win the three home matches to progress to the next round. The first two were won comfortably but Michael Walsh had to hole a 15-footer on the first tie-hole after being dormie three. Abbeyleix now take on the Curragh in the quarter final.
