Sir, All of the panellists on "Questions and Answers" (February 10th) rightly condemned the treatment meted out to Roisin McAliskey by the British authorities. The physical and psychological violence now being suffered by her bears all the hallmarks of the treatment meted out to the late Guiseppe Conlon in not dissimilar circumstances.

The reluctance of John Bruton to raise this matter with John Major is hard to understand. It can only be considered as a further example of the Taoiseach's singular lack of concern when any problem of a humanitarian nature arises affecting the nationalist population. Such a lack of commitment and compassion on the part of this Government is deeply deplorable. - Yours etc
