Sir, – I congratulate Rosita Boland on writing "The more beautiful the part of Ireland, the filthier it is" (Life, August 18th).
I also receive tokens from that self-same fast-food chain on a regular basis. In my gateway, on the roadside, thrown over the fence, and blown into nearby fields of livestock, who show a lively interest in it.
If any of these food and drink containers are at all biodegradable, maybe the companies involved could at least provide them in camouflage colours, so that they could be less of an eyesore while rotting down.
I have lived here for 10 years, and there is no doubt that the problem has escalated during that time. – Yours, etc,
