Sir, – Accepting a sum of money in lieu of the pursuit of justice on a point of principal tells us, fans young and old, that money is more important than morality in soccer ("FAI says Fifa paid it €5m for Henry handball", Front Page, June 5th). Now that Fifa is being exposed as a corrupt and Byzantine feeding trough, I believe this money should be returned as soon as possible. Lead by example, for once. – Yours, etc,
EUGENE TANNAM,
Firhouse, Dublin 24.
Sir, – The fact that the FAI received €5 million to drop the legal action against Fifa over the “Thierry Henry handball incident in a 2010 World Cup qualification match ” is just another example of an organisation that operated outside transparent rules. What is depressing is the fact that the FAI took the money but then did not specifically account for it in its accounts. – Yours, etc,
FRANK BROWNE,
Templeogue, Dublin 16.
Sir, – A dig-out for the dug-out? – Yours, etc,

Sir, – Presumably the money was passed by hand. – Yours, etc,

Sir, – Thierry Henry may have committed handball but is it not John Delaney who deserves the red card? – Yours, etc,
