Madam, – Following your Editorial of May 14th, I would like to make a point about the Government’s new poster campaign to combat the issue of teenage drinking. I have recently seen a handful of such posters in my locality, though they are dwarfed in numbers (and, indeed, frequently in size) by advertisements for various brands of alcoholic drinks.

It is laughable to think that as long as the Government is in the pocket of the drink industry, with no body regulating its advertisements, that Irish society will undergo any drastic change with regard its attitude towards alcohol.

For the sake of our impressionable youth this situation cannot be allowed to continue. – Yours, etc,
