Sir, - In reviewing a new collection of short stories' by Roald Dahl, your contributor G. V. Galvin (Book of the Day, August 27th) contrasts Dahl's handling of suspense with that of O. Henry, the American short story writer. He mentions in particular O. Henry's The Turning of the Screw.
Shurely shome mishtake. The classic ghost story was written not by O. Henry, but by Henry James. As Lady Bracknell might have observed: "To get the title wrong may be regarded as a misfortune. To mistake both title and author sounds like carelessness."
Yours, etc.,
Shanganagh Vale,
