Sir, – I was astonished to see that Dave Kavanagh set up Claddagh Records in 1997 (Home News, October 11th) many years after our appearance on the music scene. Claddagh Records was set up in 1959 by myself and Ivor Browne, assisted by Liam McAllister, shortly later, John Montague joined the board. We promoted, and continue to promote, such groups as The Chieftains, traditional music in all its form and poetry. The next release features the piper Paddy Moloney and the poet John Montague.

Dave Kavanagh was employed by our company briefly in the 1990s. – Yours, etc,
