Madam, - As the FAI / IRFU and our esteemed Government appear to be all at sea on the decision for a national stadium, might I suggest that they actually build the stadium at sea. Constructing it abroad and floating it right into Dublin Bay.
Our state of the art stadium could be lent to other European nations bidding for tournaments. Even though we would not actually be participating in the tournament, it would be nice to be involved in spirit at least.
Ah yes I can hear the begrudgers "It can't be done..". But it can and such a proposal is being touted off the California coast. If the Japanese can build a floating airport with a full runway, what's to stop us from building a floating stadium? - Yours, etc.,
MICHAEL RYAN, Wendell Avenue, Portmarnock, Co Dublin.
