Sir, - In response to your Editorial "Safety at Sea" (March 5th), the Department of Marine pointed out that the Irish Marine Emergency Service does not charge for rescues co-ordinated by it, and carried out by the Air Corps, Irish Naval Service, Garda, RNLI and Community Inshore Rescue Service. Your readers may wish to know that the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force also do not charge individuals rescued in the course of such missions. This policy extends to missions carried out in Irish waters and beyond. - Yours, etc.,
