Madam, - Ruth Byrne (July 4th) believes that "a strong, brave and independent woman who makes the informed choice to terminate a pregnancy" is not in the same light as "a malevolent and ruthless sex offender" as was claimed by Mr Joe Foyle.
She also says that she refused to refer to Mr Foyle and others who hold his view as "men".
Be that as it may, it is very hard to reconcile women with "strong, brave and independent" when they are complicit in destroying the most helpless of all - the baby in the womb.
Now if one were talking of taking on the pregnancy and the privilege of giving life, that, in rational thinking, is brave and courageous.
Our mothers and grandmothers may have fought for many rights but the right to abortion is not a women's right but a right for men and women to opt out of responsibility while using and abusing each other. - Yours, etc,
Mrs MARY STEWART, Ardeskin, Donegal Town.
