Madam, – In response to the report on child abuse, I urge all people who have been abused to report it and take it to the courts. I have done so. I won the case. Don’t accept No as an answer.

As I write this it is bringing tears to my eyes as there is huge pain out there, but name and shame as I did. – Yours, etc,

Due to the horrendous abuses by the Irish Catholic clergy, I was consumed by shame and kept quiet and denied my Irishness – as I will do in the future. – Yours, etc,

Madam, – Last Sunday it was announced at all Masses that a Eucharistic Congress is being held in Ireland in 2012, and there will be special collections over the coming years to help fund it. Is this a joke, one wonders?

Right now we are all still reeling in shock, hurt and disillusionment from the Ryan report; the country is in the grip of a recession and young people cannot gain employment; those in employment are being made redundant and cannot provide for their families, and are struggling to keep their heads above water. We are, allegedly, striving for ecumenism. Supposedly, we are working together to gain better understanding and remove the stumbling blocks.

Does the church think this is the time to ask the people of Ireland to help fund a populist display of Catholicism?

It beggars belief. – Yours, etc,
