The entire sequence - Owen Mulligan fielding the high ball and passing it to the inrushing Canavan, who clinically sidefooted it into the corner of the goal - will live long in the mind. It was the best thing I have seen on a Gaelic football pitch since Maurice Fitzgerald of Kerry kicked a wonderful point with the outside of his right boot from a fairly acute angle on the right-hand sideline seven or eight years ago. - Yours, etc,
