Sir, I have followed the debate in your columns concerning the restoration of St Canice's Church. Most reasonable people would agree that it is vital that our heritage (secular and sacred) should be preserved and protected.
Due to various historical incidents, many monastic sites, mediaeval churches etc are owned by the Church of Ireland. It is right and proper that the State should provide funds for preserving part of our common culture.
I have one query. I wonder if FAS is open to the possibility of funding the restoration of Cathotic churches gutted by clerical iconoclasts intoxicated by the mythical "spirit of Vatican II"?
Yours. etc.,
