Sir, – As senior Government members continue to duck and weave and fail to take responsibility for the shambles that is the Zappone affair, Taoiseach Micheál Martin finally breaks his silence to lecture the rest of us on “personal responsibility” (“Taoiseach stresses need for ‘personal responsibility’ after hotel controversy”,News, August 8th). We know that accountability fosters responsibility, so rather than reaching for the sound-bite, the Taoiseach would serve us all better if he resolved to lead by example. – Yours, etc,
