Sir, – In his article "Left-wing authoritarianism mirrors far right, research finds" (November 18th) emeritus professor of biochemistry at UCC William Reville has harsh words for social scientists: "...almost all academic staff in the social sciences are left-wing. Did they simply shy away from studying left-wing authoritarianism, fearing they would uncover something smelly on the left?".
This accusation is false. The only subject social scientists shy away from writing about is biochemistry. – Yours, etc,
