Home truths and younger citizens

Sir, – I take issue with Mark Paul's article "When 'snowflakes' attack: Home truths for Bank of Ireland" (Business Opinion, August 25th).

I am a 21-year-old permanent civil servant, which puts me in a far better position than most of my generation but even I don’t have a hope of entering the housing market. The cheapest one-bedroom apartment I can find in an area of Dublin I would be comfortable living in is €225,000. Due to the Central Bank rules, I would be unable to get a mortgage for more than a third of this. I certainly don’t find the backlash over Bank of Ireland’s advertising campaign to be “mystifying”. – Yours, etc,
