Sir, - I was intrigued by the comment of my friend David Norris that my article on "the suicide [hardly a neutral assertion] of Bobby Sands was totally one-sided", as if this in itself was a fault.

It seems to me that all views and opinions by their very nature are one-sided and to attempt anything else defies reality.

The folly of so called "revisionism" was founded on the attempt to construct non-objective or disinterested history. In Ireland the result of this was simply to replace nationalist versions of history with anti-nationalist interpretations, frequently camouflaged with the mask of supposed objectivity.

Homo sapiens is a creature with a single perspective. You have to look elsewhere for alternative models - for example the chameleon, with its revolving eye-sockets, has the capacity to look in two directions at the same time! - Yours, etc.,
