Sir, - I was appalled, disgusted and devastated at the sight that met my eyes when I took my young Danish visitors to climb the Sugarloaf (Co Wicklow). They called the traveller encampment there "garbage city" and rightly so.
The travelling people need halting sites and expect the sympathy and assistance of the settled community. After walking through the encampment at the base of the Sugarloaf, they no longer have my sympathy or support. - Yours, etc., Christine May,
