Grappling with gout

Sir, – George Hook’s cri de coeur on gout (Health + Family, March 12th) was 100 per cent spot-on. I, too, suffer from gout and can confirm that it is an incredibly painful experience.

He mentions that tart cherry juice is one remedy. I couldn’t agree more. I have been taking tart cherry juice every day for the past three years, and the only time I have suffered from gout during this time was when I was in France with no access to my juice of choice.

Health food stores in Northern Ireland don’t appear to have heard of tart cherry juice. I can’t speak for those in the Republic. But the shops that wake up to this miracle cure will coin it and earn the thanks of a grateful nation. Gout sufferers will hobble in droves to their door.
