Sir, – The disheartening headline “Fianna Fáil bounces back as second biggest party” (Irish Times/Ipsos MRBI poll, Front page, October 18th) reminds me of the line from the old folk/anti-war song Where Have all the Flowers Gone? which asks, rhetorically, “when will they ever learn, when will they ever learn?” – Yours, etc,
Sir, – How thoroughly and utterly depressing that this “bounce” confirms that many people in this State have the memory of a goldfish, and the mental capacity of a moth flying toward a flame, attracted by its fleeting promise, but oblivious to the danger it poses, despite being burned many times before. – Yours, etc,
