Madam, - As a passionate Red Devil of over 50 years' standing, I am appalled by the actions of Messrs Magnier and McManus. As one of 17,000-plus small shareholders in the PLC, I am appalled and disgusted by their bully-boy tactics over an issue that has nothing to do with Man Utd. If the club is to be sold, I believe all small shareholders would prefer it to be sold to Old Nick rather than this pair.
It is a relief that McManus has withdrawn his offer to part fund a National Stadium as I would hate to have even one cent of my tax contaminated by his contribution or that the stadium would in any way be beholden to the whim of a tax exile.
Finally, if Bertie Ahern is a genuine Man Utd supporter, he will withdraw all tax supports to the racing community. They should never have been there in the first place. - Yours, etc.,
BRENDAN J DONOHUE, Acorn Road, Dublin 16.
Madam, - Having apparently looked a gift horse in the mouth, does Alex Ferguson find himself between a rock (of Gibraltar) and a hard place? - Yours etc.,
PAT GREANY, Hawthorn Manor, Blackrock, Co Dublin.
