Drawing a blank at Farmleigh Gallery

Sir, – On Sunday I went to the Farmleigh Gallery in Dublin to visit the portrait exhibition “ Anthony Palliser’s Irish Portraits”.

I got there at 12.50pm and was told it was closed for lunch until 2pm.

I stood outside in the rain with a group of enraged tourists who had just let their taxi go. It’s just as well Fáilte Ireland did not hear their comments.

This is management and customer service 1950s-style.

Surely it is possible to stagger the lunch break of the handful of staff it takes to run this small gallery. – Yours, etc,

HARRY CROSBIE,

North Wall, Dublin 1.
