Sir, - Your editorial provides a disturbing but true analysis of the Trump presidency, from the corruption of his family at home to the damage he has done to America’s place in the world (“The Irish Times view on Trump’s visit: a less than welcome guest”, Editorial, September 11th). He is, as you describe him, undoubtedly “the worst president” we have ever elected and “most people would not welcome such a person into their home”.
We also hope the United States “finds a way to erase the stain he leaves behind”. At the same time, my wife and I know when we visit later this month, Irish people will not hold the “sins” of our president against us and will show us the kindness and unique sense of humour that make us regular visitors to your beautiful island.
