Sir, – Thank you for the article by Breda O'Brien ("EU must block criminalisation of humanitarianism", November 13th) highlighting the hypocrisy of the EU, condemning the pushback policy of Poland while condoning these practices for years with full knowledge and support of Frontex, the EU border service.
In response to the outrageous criminalisation of people helping refugees when they land on European soil may I point your attention to the open letter to the Greek and EU authorities, signed by 50 human rights organisations in solidarity with Sarah Mardini, Sean Binder, Nassos Karatikos who stand trial on November 18th in Lesbos for their so-called crime of helping other human beings from dying. – Yours, etc,
