Sir, It is said that "A thing of beauty is a joy forever" - but not apparently in Carlow Cathedral - where the beautiful mosaic flooring of the sanctuary is to be covered over as part of the dismantling policy.
What a contrast to Cobh Cathedral, Co Cork (where incidentally, the work is described as "Restoring" NOT "reordering" - a pseudonym for dismantling) where the woodwork floor is being lifted section by section, but will be "re laid exactly as it was" (Cloyne Diocesan Magazine, Summer 1996).
I would like to ask - have Bishop Ryan and his advisers taken leave of their senses? - Yours, etc.,
