Sir, – Now that virtually all Covid restrictions have been lifted, perhaps it is now time to consider how best to repurpose all those signs that say “This is two metres”. May I suggest that we cut a quarter of the width of each, alter the legend to “This is one-and-a-half metres”, and place them judiciously near rural roads, where motorists will be able to see clearly the space they must legally leave between their vehicle and any cyclist they overtake. – Yours, etc,
