Why cause traffic in Dublin when the EPC summit could happen elsewhere?

The European Political Community meeting could have been held in an airport conference room

Letters to the Editor. Illustration: Paul Scott

Sir, – It is surely not beyond the wit and ability of Irish civil servants to organise their EU meetings in a conference room in or near Dublin, Shannon or Knock airports and avoid the totally unnecessary and costly (how many million euro?) disruption and inconvenience imposed on those living, working or travelling through Dublin.

There is nothing more annoying that sitting in traffic going nowhere while watching some self-important official being escorted through the city by a convoy of gardaí, who, of course have much more important things to do. – Yours, etc,

HUGH PIERCE,

Celbridge,

Co Kildare.
