Sir, – Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael promised before the last election to raise the State pension to €350 a week.
We are on €299. Now we are told to expect less than €10 extra, possibly as little as €7.50, in Budget 2027.
A senior source says “the extra €10 isn’t looking likely”. For pensioners, that extra €10 is food and heat.
If Government believes €7.50 closes the gap to €350 then they are not managing pensions, they are managing poverty for many pensioners. – Yours, etc,
