Sir, – When the Gisèle Pelicot case in France was published, there was outrage expressed by most sections of our society. I wonder, reading Ruth Breslin’s article (“Decriminalising prostitution would boost the sex trade”, July 29th), do any of the men (and it’s mostly men) who are the purchasers when it comes to prostitution see the correlation between what they engage in and what Mr Pelicot was doing?
I totally agree with all that Ms Breslin asserts in her article, and I would add that we urgently need to accept the fact that age-appropriate sexuality education must be rolled out from preschool, to primary, secondary and third level institutions and sporting organisations if we have any chance of tackling these most serious crimes in our society. – Yours, etc,
