Sir, – So far in 2026, Dublin City Council has completed just 900m of active travel infrastructure. At that pace, it would take roughly 150 years to deliver the long-promised 300km Dublin active travel network. And crucially, most of the infrastructure delivered to date falls well short of best international standards.
This is yet another example of the council’s persistent failures in delivering basic transport services and infrastructure to the people of Dublin.
In a time of volatile fuel costs, an escalating climate crisis, rising road deaths, and public health challenges from physical inactivity, the council must double down on active travel and truly deliver infrastructure at both greater speed and much higher quality. – Yours, etc,
