Ordination of women is supported by most Catholics

This should be a headline issue at National Synodal Assembly

The Irish Times - Letters to the Editor.

Sir, – Like Thomas Morris Gormally (Letters, May 4th), I support the ordination of women, as do a large majority of Catholics in Ireland.

This should be the headline issue at the National Synodal Assembly of Ireland on October 17th, 2026. The practical recommendations to be voted on at the assembly are currently being drafted.

Will our cautious bishops seek to defer equality for women for another century? – Yours, etc,

COLM HOLMES,

Blackrock,

Co Dublin.
