Sir, - We might reasonably conclude that the US seems incapable of negotiating sensibly with Iran and a fuel/power crisis is almost inevitable this year.
I suggest householders dependent on diesel, gas or heating oil should quickly install solar panels and a battery. This would provide at least a small level of power and support some level of hot water and electric-powered heating and cooking. It could also aid the charging of e-bikes and EVs. Grants are, of course, available for the panels.
Ideally, the Government would move swiftly to increase the level of grant and also include batteries. We all know this should have been implemented years ago as a climate-emergency measure. But it’s never too late to do the right thing. - Yours, etc,
DAVID SPROTT,
