Sir, – It was a sad day for Dublin when 87-year-old Brother Kevin quietly left the city (“The Irish Times view on the departure of Brother Kevin: more than five decades of invaluable service”, August 12th).
For 53 years, Kevin Crowley, founder and figurehead of the Capuchin Day Care Centre, welcomed and fed tens of thousands of Dubliners in need. The man returned home to Cork with few personal belongings but left an enormous legacy of caring in his life-long mission.
Dublin City Council should rename a street, close to the Capuchin Day Care Centre, in his honour.
With the support of residents and businesses one of the streets could be renamed “Brother Kevin Crowley Street” (Dublin already has a Kevin Street).
