Belgrade - Yugoslavia's new Foreign Minister said yesterday the country should set up "truth commissions" to determine responsibility for the war crimes of its recent past.

"Responsibility for crimes is a topic that cannot be skipped," Mr Goran Svilanovic, a member of the new government appointed on Saturday and dominated by backers of the new President, Mr Vojislav Kostunica, told the Beta news agency.

"We cannot, and should not, avoid facing the consequences of war and responsibility for crimes," he added.
