Moscow - President Yeltsin, who is being treated in a Moscow clinic for pneumonia, suffered a string of heart attacks during his successful re-election campaign in 1996, his spokesman said yesterday. Mr Dmitry Yakushkin told a press conference that the President suffered "several heart attacks" during the hectic campaign, which saw him defeat his communist challenger, Mr Gennady Zyuganov.
