Witnesses to a hit-and-run which left a young woman in a critical condition in north Dublin early this morning are asked to contact gardai.

The incident happened on the Wellmount Road, Finglas at 8.50 a.m. when the 21-year-old pedestrian was struck by black Ford Mondeo that failed to stop.

She is in a critical condition in James Connelly Hospital Blanchardstown.
