Wolves are prepared to join the race to sign Republic of Ireland and Millwall midfielder Stephen Reid, according to reports today.

While Blackburn have already expressed their interest in the influential playmaker, Wolves are said to have representatives in Dublin this weekend to watch Reid play for Ireland against Albania in the Euro 2004 qualifier at Lansdowne Road.

Blackburn boss Graeme Souness has followed the 22-year-old throughout his young career and rates him highly with a £2 million sterling price tag.

However, Wolves coach Dave Jones may throw a spanner in the works for Blackburn as he aims to strengthen his newly promoted side ahead of the new Premiership season.

Wolves owner Sir Jack Hayward admitted that new signings are needed this summer for the club's first taste of the Premiership.
