Witnesses sought to Longford hit-and-run

The Garda in Longford are appealing for witnesses after a man was killed in a hit-and-run in Kenagh early this morning.

The Garda in Longford are appealing for witnesses after a man was killed in a hit-and-run in Kenagh early this morning.

Gardai have named the victim as Eamonn Hoey (64), from Moydoo, Co Longford. The incident occurred at 2.45 a.m at Aughnashingan, Kenagh on a straight stretch of the main Longford to Ballymahon Road, about one mile from McGiffs Cross.

Mr Hoey was struck by what has been described as a small white car which failed to stop. He died at the scene.
