The All England Club today confirmed a retractable roof will be built over Wimbledon's Centre Court.
The club's management committee will go-ahead with the plan after receiving assurances a roof would not threaten the condition of the court.
The move comes after years of rain interruptions to big matches at the Grand Slam event. It is hoped the roof could be in place in time for the 2008 championships.
