A man whose wife reported him to gardaí after finding child pornography on his computer is to be sentenced later by Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

Stephen Quinn's pornography included an image of naked children superimposed with the heads of his own daughter and his stepdaughter.

Quinn (49), of Mellowes Road, Finglas, now living in Tralee, Co Kerry, pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography in 2003 at his former marital home in Ballymun.

Judge Michael White said it was a major aggravating factor and of serious concern that Quinn had used images of people in relation to whom he was in a position of trust and responsibility.

Sgt Michael Buckley told Mary Rose Gearty, prosecuting, that gardaí found 122 images on the computer after his wife reported him in November 2003. Sgt Buckley said that Quinn accepted responsibility for whatever was on the computer. The images were largely of naked young girls.

Judge White said that Quinn had been placed on the register of sex offenders and he adjourned sentence to allow for the preparation of a probation report.
