What are the Estimates?

The Estimates provide details of the Government's spending plans for the coming year

The Estimates provide details of the Government's spending plans for the coming year. They are published each year a few weeks before the budget.

The Estimates are split into two parts: current, which outlines day-to-day spending, and the capital budget, which accounts for State investment.

They are open to revision in the budget, with some spending plans, such as social welfare increases, revealed only on budget day.
