Cardiff - Mr Rhodri Morgan was yesterday officially appointed First Secretary of the Welsh Assembly in an election which was little more than a formality. The Cardiff MP and Assembly member had already been made temporary leader after Mr Alun Michael last week dramatically resigned from the top job in Welsh politics. Last Friday he was also elected leader of the Wales Labour Party and its nominee for the post of First Secretary. The three opposition parties did not block his appointment.
