All Mayo and Kerry roads lead to Croke Park this weekend for the All-Ireland football final, putting extra traffic on main routes.

There will also be pressure on roads from Tyrone as it competes against Kerry in the minor match.

Motorists from Kerry can expect severe congestion in Limerick, and from Monasterevin through Kildare town and on the Naas road to Newlands Cross. Mayo fans will get caught in tailbacks especially at Kinnegad in Co Westmeath.

In Dublin a free pre-match concert at the Bank of Ireland will close Nassau Street and College Green to traffic tomorrow from 7.30 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Major restrictions and diversions will operate around Croke Park.

From 8 p.m. tomorrow only residents can park on Fitzgerald/Jones Road and Russell Street and from 8 a.m. on Sunday until after the match the main routes from Drumcondra Road/Clonliffe Road to Jones Road will be closed.

Iarnrod Eireann will have up to 14 special trains in operation from Kerry and Mayo over the weekend, but will also have restrictions in Kerry because of the large numbers of students returning to college.

Passengers on regular services over the weekend to and from Kerry will have to have boarding cards to get on the trains. Cards will be available when purchasing tickets.

Elsewhere in Dublin, the Canal bridge at Killeen Road remains closed for the next week because of roadworks and there will be roadworks for the next eight weeks at Harold's Cross Road, severely affecting evening peak traffic.

Major restrictions on the Monkstown Road continue until the end of the month because of roadworks, while drainage works on Charlemont Street near Harcourt Road junction has reduced traffic to one lane both ways.

In Cork, Maylor Street and Caroline Street remain closed until the end of October for pavement works and service renewals. Over the next six months in Westmeath and Roscommon there will be single-lane traffic only on the eastbound carriageway of the Athlone bypass, with temporary diversions at interchanges.
