A new website has been launched to promote The Gathering in Waterford but also to help stay in touch with the county’s diaspora beyond next year.
The famous holiday setting at Tramore beach was the venue for the unveiling of the waterfordgathering.comsite which is aimed at "creating a more lasting legacy" as a forum for communication with Waterford folk and their descendants worldwide, the organisers said.
Also launched was a festival guide promoting the many Gathering events being held to encourage the diaspora to visit Co Waterford next year.
A range of offerings is included, from literature and music to storytelling and dance, from sport and food to clan gatherings, street parties and school reunions.
Waterford city manager Michael Walsh and county manager Denis McCarthy commended the communities in the city and county for already responding positively to The Gathering.
The website was established by the Waterford County and City Gathering Steering Group, and the intention is to create a worldwide Waterford Global Community, by inviting people to register their details online.
