Walsh to travel to Cairo

The Minister for Agriculture, Mr Walsh, will travel to Cairo at the weekend to press for the reopening of the live cattle trade with Egypt, the Taoiseach has confirmed. Mr Ahern's discussions with Prince Fahd of Saudi Arabia yesterday in Dublin were part of "the Government's process of contact . . . to ensure that the markets for live cattle and beef in the Middle East are secured for Irish exporters".
