Harare - Zimbabwe's opposition denounced "intimidation" by security forces and expressed fears of vote-rigging at the end of a referendum on a controversial new constitution.
The National Constitutional Assembly (NCA), which campaigned for a No vote, said nine of its activists were arrested yesterday in Harare, while an election monitor was detained in the southern district of Mwenezi. Some five million people were eligible to vote in what was seen as a test of President Robert Mugabe's 20-year hold on power with his Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front.
