MONROVIA - US marines in Liberia's embattled capital opened fire for the first time yesterday, killing three attackers as renewed fighting in the city shattered a fragile ceasefire. US officials said marines protecting their embassy shot dead three Liberians and wounded a fourth, a Defence Department spokesman said in Washington.
