Electronics company AVX have said 65 staff will be made redundant with the closure of its plant in Northern Ireland.

The company said the closure of the distribution centre in Larne, Co Antrim would take place over the next six months and, where possible, employees would be offered jobs at their facility in Coleraine, Co Derry where suitable vacancies existed.

Mr Martin McGulgan, European Vice President of AVX, said they regretted the uncertainty created by the decision, but he believed the move would strengthen its overall business.
